Profile
YOZMOT HaEMEK TECHNOLOGICAL INCUBATOR

Mission
The Yozmot HaEmek Technological Incubator was established in 1993 to provide the framework for both new immigrant and veteran Israeli scientist-entrepreneurs to transform their knowledge and experience into marketable products and high-tech companies. This creates a pool of commercial opportunities and new jobs, bringing prosperity to the region. The founders of the incubator are the Mifalei HaEmek Agricultural Cooperative, and the Jezre'el Valley and Megido Regional Councils.

Location
Yozmot HaEmek is situated in the Jezre'el Valley on the grounds of the Mifalei HaEmek Agricultural Cooperative complex at the southern entrance to the town of Migdal HaEmek, 35 km (20 miles) southeast of Haifa.

Activity
Yozmot HaEmek's experienced management team provides the support, guidance, financial management, marketing counseling and infrastructure required by the project entrepreneurs to develop their innovative ideas into marketable products. Assistance in locating investment and strategic partners is an important component of the work of the management team.

Sources of Funds
The Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry and Trade provides a substantial grant that constitutes 85% of the R&D budget during the two-year incubator period. Supplementary financing (15% of the R&D budget) must be obtained before acceptance to the incubator.

Specialization
Yozmot HaEmek concentrates its efforts in two areas: medical devices and materials. Our purpose is to move toward a more focused incubator while creating a "Center of Excellence" and building brand equity for the incubator. Entrepreneurs will be attracted to our incubator where same-field ventures are being developed. Investors find specialized incubators attractive as they see a more consistent source of expertise and knowledge that can be used to further the entrepreneur's efforts and increase their probability of success. At the same time we will remain sufficiently flexible to admit those projects outside of these two fields with a high probability of success. We are especially interested in projects that can partner with industries in our area and create local employment opportunities.
